Brief description of study
The purpose of this study is two-fold. Since there is currently no FDA approved software to analyze these images, the images taken will be used to help improve and refine current software, or help develop new software, in the hopes that it will be approved by the FDA. The images will also provide a valuable resource for physicians to see whether or not a specific drug or treatment is improving the health of a patient's corneal nerves. If confocal images have previously been taken for the patient, we would ask for their permission to include those images as well.
The populations to be studied for this study will be patients that are 18 years or older and have been diagnosed with ocular surface disease, such as dry eye, neurotrophic keratopathy, corneal neuralgia or neuropathic pain.
Patients excluded from this study will be those who are members of the vulnerable population or have any physical or mental condition that would interfere with the study. Also, patients who have had intraocular surgery or ocular laser surgery within 2 months before enrollment, or have a history of ocular infection within 1 month before enrollment will be excluded.
