Brief description of study
We are looking for healthy volunteers to
participate in a study to see if a particular type of medication (statin) has
an impact on the kind of bacteria that are found in the gut, and if the gut
bacteria affects how the body responds to the medication. If you participate in
the study, you will be asked to take the medication or a placebo for 8 weeks. If you qualify, your participation would last
about 4 months during which time there are 4 visits to the Hospital of the
University of Pennsylvania.
Detailed description of study
The study involves taking rosuvastatin 20 mg daily or
placebo pill (sugar pill) for 8 weeks. Samples collected at visits will include blood, urine, and stool along with vital signs and other measurements.

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

Gender: All
Participants must be non-smoking, non-vegan/vegetarian, healthy individuals who have not been diagnosed with any chronic illnesses and do not take prescription or over-the counter medications/supplements/vitamins (except for forms of contraception).
