Brief description of study
Patients with bloating associated with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) will be invited to participate in the study. Study to investigate the role of bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract (gut microbiome) in various patients with IBS. The purpose of this study is to characterize the gut bacteria and their associated molecules in subjects with symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome before, during, and after a set of standard interventions often used in patients with IBS. These interventions include a short course of antibiotics, bowel cleansing, and modifying the amount of fiber in the diet.
