Brief description of study

An algorithm that has been licensed for use with a novel mapping technology (RhythmView, Abbott Electrophysiology (Topera, Inc.), Menlo Park, CA) for analyzing atrial recordings during human AF, finding that greater than 95% of cases demonstrate either a rapidly spinning rotor (small circuit) or very rapid focal impulse formation. Catheter ablation at these relatively circumscribed areas can significantly affect AF, either by substantial slowing of the rate or termination (to an atrial tachycardia or sinus rhythm).
