About Us

The iConnect team is a collaborative group of individuals from Penn Medicine’s Clinical and Translational Research Center and TrialX, Inc., with representation from research and clinical areas, marketing and informational technology.

Penn Medicine’s Center for Human Phenomic Science (CHPS)

Center for Human Phenomic Science (CHPS) at Penn Medicine provides the resources, environment, operations and training to support clinical and translational research for all individuals medical facilities located at The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP), Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), and Penn Presbyterian Medical Center (PPMC).

The three research locations provide services to approximately 1,200 inpatients and more than 6,000 outpatients’ visits every year. CTRC supports the clinical research of more than 300 investigators from the University of Pennsylvania and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. The center is part of the Institute of Translational Medicine and Therapeutics (ITMAT) at Penn medicine.

The Penn Medicine CTRC is supported by a Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) from the National Center for Research Resources of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This funding created a local consortium, known as the Clinical & Translational Science Collaborative (CTSC) that allows timely collaboration and shared resources, ultimately enabling researchers to provide new treatments more quickly to patients. The goal of the consortium is to transform clinical and translational research.

ITMAT and the CTRC at Penn has developed and piloted iConnect, with the ultimate goal of providing an easier method to search for research studies at Penn Medicine and to allow volunteers to connect with investigators.

Participating Institutes

Current participating Institutes and departments at Penn Medicine include the CTRC at HUP, PPMC, and the Cardiovascular Institute.

If you were unable to find a research study for your specific disease or condition, please check back at a later date as additional Institutes and Departments at Penn Medicine plan to join iConnect.
